2nd General Election Live TV Debate
Well, last night was the 2nd of the live televised debates.
What did it tell us?
Gordon Brown can force a smile every now and again and get aggressive every now and again.
David Cameron is an accomplished speaker; I do like him.
Nick Clegg is also an accomplished speaker, he does bang on about the same things though (Yawn, Trident) and he did manage to remind us again his constituency is in Sheffield - however his closing statement was quite powerful.
However, isn't British politics supposed to be about party policies not individual personalities?
I can see these debates have a place in Presidential elections, but we do not have a presidential system in this country (thankfully)
It also confirmed that Adam Boulton is now established as the new David Frost of British TV. Lightweight and ineffectual - and his personal attack on Clegg was out of line for such an event.

Interesting summary. I was listening on Radio 4 to the debate so didn't see Gordon smiling or if anyone was looking down the camera.
This gives me a different perspective perhaps. I thought Gordon came over as passionate not angry and Cameron seemed less effective than other people have commented.
It was still Clegg's night I felt overall.
In the Kennedy / Nixon debate when TV was not as widespread they said people listening on the radio put Nixon ahead those who saw the TV gave it to Kennedy. Clearly Gordon Brown has a face for radio :)
As Bridgett Kendall pointed out on Radio 4 it was very light on actual substance. There was very little discussion of foreign policy issues.
To be honest I think we got more from the more open questioning from the three interviews done at the last election.
Adam Boulton just embarrassed himself in his unsubtle attack on Clegg. ( Or maybe he is really clever and was under orders to attack Clegg but didn't want to so did it in a crass way? Hmm maybe not)
Interesting... thought Clegg's delivery was good, but his substance (for me) is lacking. I fundamentally disagree with several of his policies so I guess I'll never get over that.
Very lacking in substance though (the whole thing I mean) - so many questions weren't actually answered.
I might have to listen to the last one on the radio to compare, interesting how pictures can make such a difference.
